Welcome to Destiny USA, where history meets joy with one of the center’s most cherished attractions: Carousel No. 18. Originally crafted in 1909 by the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, this fully restored, authentic piece of American folk art is a symbol of timeless nostalgia and wonder. The carousel, known as “Carousel No. 18,” began its journey in amusement parks across North America and found its forever home here in Syracuse in 1990, making it the namesake of the original Carousel Center. Our Antique Carousel is 115 years old.
Carousel No. 18 has a rich heritage, traveling through several amusement parks before arriving at Destiny USA. From Long Branch Park in Syracuse (1926-1941) to Roseland Park in Canandaigua (1941-1985), the carousel has seen generations of riders and captured countless hearts. The Pyramid Companies saved the carousel from disrepair in 1985, embarking on a two-year restoration project that restored each hand-carved horse, colorful chariot, and painted detail to its original 1909 brilliance.
Over the decades, Carousel No. 18 has created special memories for millions of visitors. The carousel’s magic has made it a beloved spot for wedding photos, birthday celebrations, and even surprise marriage proposals.
Carousel No. 18 is more than a ride; it’s a symbol of community, joy, and nostalgia. We invite you to experience the timeless delight of Carousel No. 18 here at Destiny USA, where every turn brings back the past and creates new memories for generations to come.
