— New runways take tourism to new heights, provide ample opportunities to bring even more international tourists to Destiny USA and Central New York —
Syracuse, NY – Destiny USA officials revealed plans today to transform its outer Solar Street lots into landing strips to accommodate incoming direct flights from five major northeastern Canadian cities in a continued effort to attract tourists from across the border to Syracuse and Central New York.
“Some see parking lots,” said Aiden McGuire, director of marketing, Destiny USA. “But as the region’s top tourist attraction, we see opportunity, and the potential to continue to grow our tourism market and visitation to Destiny USA and Central New York, one runway at a time.”
Arrangements have been negotiated with an unnamed airline for multiple daily flights arriving from cities Destiny USA has already seen substantial traffic originating from, including Toronto, Ottawa, Kingston, Montreal and Quebec City. All departures will take place in the evening, allowing Canadians to enjoy a full day (or even an overnight) at Destiny USA, New York’s largest shopping, dining and entertainment destination.
“We are excited by this aggressive move on the part of Destiny USA. They have invested a great deal of resources and effort globally to attract international travelers and grow the tourism market over the past few years. This is a winning gesture sure to stimulate an influx of more Canadians into Syracuse,” said David Holder, president, Visit Syracuse.
The announcement comes hot on the heels of Destiny USA’s “Play and Stay Getaway,” a-of-its kind promotion in Central New York offers Canadians “at par” value pricing now through April 30th on lodging at Holiday Inn Syracuse/Liverpool and four of the entertainment venues at Destiny USA.
Funding for the project will be covered entirely by proceeds from Destiny USA’s 107-year old carousel. No construction timeline was announced, but inquisitive readers are reminded not to believe everything they read on April Fool’s Day.
