— Join Us in The Canyon on Sunday, November 10th at 2PM —
Syracuse, NY (October 28, 2024) – The Syracuse Orchestra in collaboration with Destiny USA will host a special Veterans Day concert on Sunday, November 10th at 2 PM in the Canyon on Level 1. This inspiring and free event invites all in the community to come together in honor of the brave service and sacrifices of our nation’s veterans and active-duty military members.
The hour-long concert will feature patriotic music by the full Syracuse Orchestra including The Armed Forces Salute, John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen, God Bless America, and many more iconic pieces.
The Syracuse Orchestra has been performing at Destiny USA since last May, playing a variety of classical and popular concerts. Samantha Marra, Destiny USA’s Assistant Marketing Director said, “We are thrilled to continue our partnership with the Syracuse Orchestra to bring the community a special, free performance in honor of Veteran’s Day in the Canyon.” Up to 300 seats will be available and standing room is unlimited.
Conducting this Veterans Day salute is Richard StoeLzel, originally from Auburn, NY, and currently music director of the Punta Gorda Symphony and on the trumpet faculty at McGill University.
A veteran himself, StoeLzel’s career began as solo cornet with the United States Coast Guard Band, where he performed throughout the U.S. and gave numerous command performances for Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush. After his service, he has performed and conducted throughout the world. “Returning to Central New York, especially to conduct the outstanding Syracuse Orchestra in honoring those who serve or have served in our armed forces, is so special to me. I’m certain our audience will strongly connect with the music and being all together to celebrate Veterans Day,” StoeLzel said.
“The Syracuse Orchestra wants to extend special thanks to the sponsors of our Veterans Day Concert – Destiny USA, NBT Bank, Saab, Rotary Eastwood, SRC, and AmeriCu,” Pam Murchison, the Syracuse Orchestra’s executive director, said. “Their generosity allows us to make this such a special event honoring those who have served our country.”
Tickets for the Veteran’s Day concert are free, but seating is limited. To ensure a reserved seat, please visit SyracuseOrchestra.org or call 315-299-5598. Additional standing room will be available in the Canyon area.
