Syracuse, NY (March 15, 2024) – The Syracuse Orchestra and Destiny USA are proud to announce a new collaboration to bring more music to the Syracuse community. The Orchestra will be “in-residence” at Destiny through May, performing a variety of classical and popular concerts, which are free and open to the public.

To kick-off the new partnership, on Friday, March 15 and Saturday, March 16, The Syracuse Orchestra launches the Destiny USA series with “Music of Video Games,” four free concerts in the Canyon area, 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. both days. Travis Newton will conduct a string quartet playing tunes familiar to video game aficionados from “The Legend of Zelda”, “Super Mario Brothers”, “Dragonborn”, and more.

“Destiny USA is a focal point for community gathering,” Pam Murchison, The Syracuse Orchestra’s executive director, said. “Along with shopping, dining, other types of entertainment and play for young people and adults, bringing our nationally known and locally grown, professional orchestra to Destiny fits right into the mix. We want all aspects of the Syracuse-area public to get to know us and are confident they will follow us to our many other performance locations around town throughout the year.”

“We are thrilled to welcome The Syracuse Orchestra to Destiny USA,” said Alannah Gallagher, Destiny USA’s Director of Marketing. “Adding the Syracuse Orchestra to our diverse tenant mix will invite families from all over the region to enjoy music at New York’s largest shopping, dining and entertainment destination.”

Upcoming in The Syracuse Orchestra’s Destiny USA concert series are a woodwind quintet playing Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf”, “The Music of Bridgerton”, Music of Ghibli Studio’s anime films, a Pride concert in May and much more.
